We had our 10 week appt (May 6th) and everything looked great! We had our first ultrasound to confirm the little one and we were so excited to be able to see it! We even got to watch them move their legs and arms a bit. It definitely made everything seem more real.

The next few weeks flew by! We had our 13 week (May 27th) appt to check for down syndrome and we also had our next 4 week appt while we were there. I had actually lost a half a pound which was surprising because my waist line was disappearing more and more every day! Everything was negative for the down syndrome test, so we are very blessed to be having a healthy baby!!

We had a "check-up" at 17 weeks (June 24th) and were able to hear the heartbeat, which always makes us happy:). I had gained 4lbs at this point (1lb a week), which the Dr. said was right on track! We were pretty anxious to find out the sex (and by "we" I mean Josh, I was still debating whether or not I wanted to find out) so we wanted to find out a little sooner than our 21 week appt. A good friend of ours has her own clinic (Prenatal Vistions in Des Moines) and does ultrasounds and truly makes it an experience. She took some great 3D pictures and also recorded the whole ultrasound on a DVD for us to take home and share with family. So just shy of 18 weeks we found out that God has blessed us a sweet baby BOY! I think the look on both of our faces was priceless. Everyone, including me, had thought that he was a she, but turns out I need to work on my mother's intuition:). I've said for as long as I can remember that I wanted a boy first, because growing up with an older brother I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. So whether the next is a boy or girl, they will have an "older brother" to look after them.

We have been busy these past few months making adjustments for our new arrival. Between getting the nursery ready for painting, deciding on daycare, and conversations based soley on our new little man time has flown by so far, and we are almost halfway there!
