5 months old

This past weekend was Bo's 5 month milestone.  He has gotten to be quite the big boy lately!  He is so aware of his surroundings.  He grabs things constantly, whether it is his binkie, his football, or any of his toys.  He now knows he has feet, pretty big accomplishment around our house!  He loves, loves, loves his Johnny Jump Up.  He goes crazy when he is in it now.  He typically plays for about 20-30 minutes until he eventually lays his head on it and tries to sleep.  So it definitely wears him out!  It is Mom and Dad's secret weapon!!

Last Friday was Bo's last day on his medicine and he was finally back to the normal Bo!  He was happy and got back into his normal sleeping and eating routine.  Bo still eats 4 times a day (730, 1130, 330, 730).  He gets formula during the 1130 feeding while at daycare and Breast Milk the rest of the time.  He also eats rice cereal or baby food in the evening.  Saturday night was a little different because we all went to the PBR in Des Moines.  We had friends and all my family come up (family tradition) and go to the Saturday night show.  It was Bo's first time, so I was really excited!  We ended up feeding him rice cereal at his 330 feedings and formula at 730 since it would be easier.  He eats about 7-8 ounces of milk each time and when he eats rice cereal or baby food he will have about 4 tablespoons (or 3-4 ounces) plus about 7 ounces of milk!  He does not shy away from food.

I did go out and get Bo his first pair of cowboy boots, wranglers, and a pearl snap shirt (of course).  He was so cute in his get up on Saturday evening.  His boot are still a little big and wouldn't stay on his feet, but I was able to get one picture of him in his boots.  Josh and him also had almost matching shirts, which was adorable.  Love those two so much!!

I was little disappointed that we did not get a whole family picture because we do every year, but we were a little preoccupied this year at the PBR.  Bo's normal sleep time is around 8 or 9 and he didn't sleep a wink while we were there.  He LOVED the PBR (or it may have been all the people and bright lights).  I am so excited to take him back next year!  It was a little loud in there so we gave him some earplugs, but he had such a good time!

Like I had mentioned, Bo is back on his normal sleeping pattern...SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!  We put him down for bed around 830 or 9 and then he doesn't wake up until 7!  We are so lucky to have such a good sleeper!  We are very grateful for that!  It is funny because we always heard horror stories about when you have kids and how they never sleep and you will never sleep, but we haven't really experienced that too much (except for when he was sick).  And even if we didn't get much sleep, seeing his smiling face in the morning makes it all worth it!  He does like all the room he has in the crib, it's so funny to watch him because you can always tell when he is in his deepest sleep because the arms go out!

Last weekend was Bo's first time trying carrots (or anything other than rice cereal) and he loves them!  This makes me so excited, because hopefully he will like vegetables like his mommy!  He is learning so quickly how to eat.  He will open his mouth and "chew" now.  And boy you have to make sure you keep it coming because in between bites he gets a little feisty.  He loves his food!!

Our 5 month old - so big!  He can sit up so well now!!

I love my Uncle Nick
I almost forgot to mention that Josh went Turkey Hunting for the first time last Monday for 1st season.  He was out for about an hour with Nick and got one!  I was so proud:).  Here are a couple pictures of Josh's bird.

Good news, bad news...

Well this week we had some good news and some bad news..

I will start with the good news, our baby boy is growing so fast!  He now weighs 16 lbs 14 oz and he isn't even 5 months old yet!  He is an extremely happy baby, so when he cries we know that there is something going on.

Which leads to the bad news...
Monday night we were trying to put Bo down for bed in his crib and he was crying so bad and every time we would pick him he would be fine.  Our first thought was, "Uh oh, he wants to be held all the time".  He cried for almost an hour which was highly unusual for him (he maybe cries for 5 or 10 minutes max if he super hungry or super tired).  He finally was able to get to sleep, but he woke up several times throughout the night (which was again super unusual).  And we have started feeding Bo formula once a day trying to make the Breast Milk we have stored last as long as possible.  (I stopped pumping last week, so I made it over 4 months and we have about 6 weeks saved!!)  So we thought maybe it was upsetting his stomach.

Tuesday night was the same thing, but he cried for 30 minutes this time, but then when he woke up on Wednesday morning his eyes were all matted.  It was the saddest thing I have seen!!  He has had a cough basically since he started at daycare, so the poor guy has been not 100% for awhile now.  We thought he had pink eye so we took him to the Dr. Wednesday morning (which is why we had him weighed) and turns out he had ear infection.  The congestion had gone from his sinuses to his ears and up to his eyes.  The Dr did say that he couldn't believe his temperament because of how he musy've been feeling because he was acting very happy!  So he is now on Amoxicillin and Josh stayed home with him on Wednesday and I stayed home with him on Thursday.  No wonder he would cry when we would lay him on his back...the pressure from the ear infection was hurting the little guy.  But like I said, we have a very happy baby.  Here are a couple pictures of Bo when he was sick:(...

The start of many traditions

Sunday was Bo's first Easter and we were excited to spend some time together as a family and also get his Easter Basket!  Grandma was also in town to celebrate with us as well.  Growing up Nick and I always got Kites for Easter so I am hoping to pass this tradition on to Bo when he gets a little older and can actually fly them.  I know Nick and I always enjoyed this day with our parents and I hope Bo with do the same with Josh and I.  It was gorgeous out so it was nice to get outside to take some family pictures and get a little Vitamin D:).  Here are a few photos of Bo's special day.

Sunday also marked the final round of the Masters.  Josh is a huge golf fan and was pretty excited to watch this with Bo, so I decided to celebrate "Father's Day" a little early and get him a little something to make this experience special for the both of them.  Bo got Josh matching Master's green polos to wear the final day of the Masters.  So Bo and I were both excited to give these to Josh.

This is just the first of many father/son traditions in the Rhamy household.

And here are the boys in their shirts!
