Going Home

Before we left the hospital we got the pictures back that the hospital photographer had taken a short time earlier.  They turned out so beautiful.  Here are few sneak peeks!

We were very ready to get home and get settled in as a family of 4.  Vallery and Bo also had some special visitors waiting for them when they got home.

All dressed and ready to go!

Her poor head... :)

Papa meeting Vallery for the first time!

Gramma already has the special touch!

Uncle Nick!

Bo ran up to Vallery instantly when he got back from school.

Visitors!

We had some awesome visitors during our stay at the hospital.  I somehow didn't get pictures of everyone, but thank you to everyone who came to see the new addition to our family!

The first visitor was Big Brother Bo and Gramma.  I didn't get any pictures of Gramma holding Vallery for the first time.  But she was very excited to meet her granddaughter!  The following day Uncle Justin, Aunt Sydney and Cousin Owen came to visit!  Bo was very excited to see Owen.  He kept asking about him after they left.

The Rhamy's

Love these two stinkers!

Josh's friend Dan came and brought us some sweet treat!  I forgot a picture of Dan!

Great Grandma Mary Ann came to visit too!  Her mother is who Vallery is named after.  This is also her first granddaughter.

That evening Jenna and Nick brought us dinner from Panera.  And my friend Kendra; her son, Keagan; and sister, Kourtney, came to visit also!  Kourtney works at the hospital and snuggled with our little girl while she was in the nursery that first night.  I had them bring her down to nurse every 3 hours, but she was in the nursery in between feeding times.  I didn't get pictures of them either...:(.

The next afternoon Trista, Marci and Cyndi came to meet baby Vallery.  Thanks so much for visiting ladies!!  Vallery has some awesome "aunts" already!

Vallery Ann Rhamy

Vallery's birth story...

Our little lady knew what she was doing with her timing coming into the world because it couldn't have been more perfect.  She stayed put until after the wedding and let mom and dad get a full nights sleep before she started her big journey.

My parents were in town for Jenna's wedding which ended up working out great because Josh and I were a little worried about what we were going to do with Bo if I went into labor in the middle of the night or on a weekend when we wouldn't have daycare.

Sunday morning we woke up around 730 feeling pretty good.  At 845am I had my first contraction, which at first I wasn't too concerned because I had contractions before but nothing consistent.  But after I had 3 contractions in 30 minutes I knew something was different this time.  I called the doctor around 945/10 and asked when was a good time to go into the hospital.  She had told me when they get to be about 5 minutes apart.  Well, after I had showered and Josh showered and packed his bag my contractions were anywhere from 7 minutes to 12-15 minutes apart.  Josh thought it was a good idea for us to stay at home as long as possible because I would be more comfortable at home.  Around 11 the contractions started to get stronger and stronger.  It got to the point to where Bo would look at me in pain and start crying because he knew I was hurting.  I started putting a pillow over my face so he couldn't see what was going on.  But in the meantime of all the contractions I managed to run the vacuum through the house, fold some clothes and do some last minute picking up...nesting up until the very last minute!  Josh was giving me a pretty hard time when he saw me bust the vacuum out.

Well, finally around 1230 we decided that we should probably head in there.  My Dad was parked behind us so we were waiting for him to leave and for Bo to finish lunch.  We left the house close to 1pm and during the car ride to the hospital my contractions went to 5-6 minutes apart and even stronger.  When we arrived another couple was checking in so we were sent to the waiting room where I continued to have more contractions.  After finally getting to a room it was about 130, so they started all the questioning and got my IV put in.  The nurse checked my cervix at about 145 and I was dilated to a 7!  That's when all the fun began.  Before we knew it there were about 6 nurses in our room getting everything set up for delivery.  The nurse gave me a dose of fentanyl to take the edge off, that lasted about 20 minutes and I asked when I could have more and they said I could have more an hour after my first dose....oh boy!  We were waiting for my labs to get done from my blood test before I could get an epidural (they have to check your platelet count before they will give you an epidural).  I was dilated to an 8 by this time.

At about 220 the doctor came in and said that I would be in pain for a shorter amount of time if she would break my water and I would deliver naturally.  To say I was scared was an understatement.  If it hadn't been for Josh being my rock the entire time giving me a short pep talk before it all began...something along the lines of "You can F*cking do this, I know you can"....I couldn't have done it without him.  He was the absolute best support during the entire labor.  The nurse came in and broke my water and after that it was game on.  I had 3 contractions in about 5 minutes and 3 big pushes and she was here!  I remember the doctor telling me the 2nd time of pushing that one more and she would be here.  At 2:44pm we finally got to meet our baby girl!  The nurse told me during the 3rd push to look down she was here, but it took every ounce of me to push her out.  It was such a great experience and looking back I am so glad I did it naturally.  It was worth every ounce of pain. And I didn't need 1 stitch!  Thank you baby girl:).  We named her Vallery Ann Rhamy.  Vallery is my Great Grandmother's maiden name, Eugenie (Vallery) Boyett, and Ann is my middle name, my mother's and my grandmother's middle name.

Right after delivery and Josh cut the cord the nurse put her on my chest.  She rested there for quite awhile the doctor did everything she needed to do and then she was off to get weighed etc...  She weighed 7lbs 9oz and was 19.5 inches long.  After getting weighed the nurse brought her back to nurse for the first time.  She did great and it came so easily for both Vallery and myself.

After we got down to the post partum room it was time for Big Brother Bo to meet his sister for the first time.  Gramma prepped him the whole way saying he was coming to meet baby sister.  He had "baby" and "sister" down by the time she was here!  It was the most precious thing to see how excited he was to meet her.  He was a little hesitant at first but it didn't take long for the kisses to come.

During our stay at the hospital we kept her in the room with us most of the time.  The first night Josh stayed with us, but the 2nd night we both thought it would be a good idea for him to sleep at home so one of us got a full nights rest.  Vallery went to the nursery at night, but she was brought in every three hours to nurse.  I definitely wanted to take advantage of the help while we had it! :)

Jenna's I DOs

The days before Jenna's I Do's I was a little nervous if I was even going to be able to make this event and I wanted so badly to be there for her.  I was so happy the morning of her wedding when I woke up feeling great!  I actually couldn't have felt better.  I didn't have any contractions and for the most part for being on my feet all day (and 2 days past my due date) I wasn't too tired and had a lot of energy!

The day started with getting our hair done at Sahar's.  After that we headed to the church to get ready and take pictures.  Jenna looked absolutely beautiful.  She couldn't have looked more perfect for her big day.  It was a beautiful day and little cloudy which was awesome for picture taking.  The wedding began at 3pm and I was so relieved to be able to walk down the aisle and watch her say her vows.  Following the ceremony the wedding party piled into a stretch hummer limo and headed to a bar for a few pictures and drinks (water for me:)).  When we got to the reception the room was decorated beautifully.  After dinner I was finally able to give my speech which I so badly wanted to be able to give myself.  It was short and sweet, but the content of it was that I was so happy for her to finally get her fairytale ending to her story.  Her family is so perfect and she can live happily ever after:).

Love you Jenna Jo Eaton!!

D-Day!

This was written on 7.11.13

During my pregnancy I didn't think that I would see this day with this little girl, but she has thrown me for a loop this entire pregnancy, so why stop now? :)  I can't really complain too much because I really don't feel too bad and I haven't the past couple of weeks.  And now I am just begging that she stay put so I don't miss my cousins wedding on Saturday!  It is a very important day for her and I want to make sure I am there standing next to her when she says her vows!

I had my OB appt on Tuesday and they told me that I was good to go for a elective induction, so the dr. stripped my membrane thinking I would be delivering soon.  However, when she went to go schedule it the hospitals were booked and were not accepting anymore inductions.  This ended up being a good thing in the end (as long as I don't go into labor between now and Saturday night!).  And I'm not sure how I feel about not going into labor on my own, but if I haven't by Tuesday, July 16th we will finally be meeting our baby girl!  I didn't want to go on Monday because the Dr that am I not really a fan of is working the hospital that day...boo!

Anxiously waiting....

Well baby girl, it is 2 days from your due date and let me tell you, you have really thrown your mama for a loop already!  I was preparing for your arrival to be surprisingly early like your brother, but it seems as though you want to be the punctual one.  We want to meet you already!  You have so many people asking if you are coming on a daily basis.  The suspense has been killer!  Many have already said that you are going to be a tough, stubborn little girl (I think you get that from both mommy and daddy) and we are so excited to see how much life you are going to bring to our family!

Even though I am glad you are perfectly settled in mommy's belly, you can come out now...we are ready for you!  I have tried just about every home remedy you can imagine to get you to make your appearance in the world, but you have already made it pretty clear who is going to be calling the shots:).

So....hurry up baby girl, we are all waiting for you!

xoxo, Mommy, Daddy and Big Brother, Bo

Bo's Big Boy Room

It was such a hard transition for me to move Bo out of the nursery and into his big boy room.  This meant that he was no longer my "baby".  To me he will always be my baby, but it seems like just yesterday we brought him home from the hospital feeling overwhelmed with emotion, and now he has gotten to be so big!  My inspiration for Bo's room came from his love of books, especially Dr. Seuss.  They are his favorite books to read with Mommy and Daddy, so it seemed like the obvious choice for his bedroom.

The first thing that we had ordered was his Dr. Seuss alphabet sheets.  I just love them and he can learn from them also.  He is always pointing out the cat and the hat.  This mama thinks he is one smart cookie:).

The biggest project by far was his bed.  It is a knock off platform bed from Pottery Barn Kids.  I had found the plans to make this bed online and my dad wanted to make it.  So he and a friend made this from scratch.  It looks better than what I had imagined!  Josh and I stained it ourselves and then it was complete!

I wanted to incorporate him being a big brother, because it is going to be such a big role for him.  And I know that once sissy gets here his world is going to be flipped upside down.  So I made his Big Brother sign first (similar to his sister's sign) and then also found on etsy (of course) a very cute personalizable print.

I love this sign!

This is the back of it, so when he grows out of his Dr. Seuss room he will still have use for it.
