Sunday Funday!

Sunday morning following the Horse Pull everyone slept in until 8 o'clock (except for Daddy, he had a 750 am tee time).  It was a relaxing morning and then everyone took naps in the afternoon.  The kids slept for over three hours and then we all got ready to go to a family baby shower.  Bo was able to play outside with all the "big kids" and Vallery and I hung out inside with two other baby girls, they are all within a couple months of eachother.  And it was so funny to see Vallery compared to the other girls, because the doctor was right...she is short and chunky!!  One other thing, my daughter was of course the only one not wearing a dress, but instead opted for a romper (tomboy). :)

Osceola Horse Pull

On Saturday night we got all packed up to head to Osceola for our first Horse Pull of the season.  Bo and Vallery were extra excited to Papa and Uncle Nick (Gramma was with Gramma Gray at a family reunion, so we missed seeing her!!).  In Bo's eyes Uncle Nick can do no wrong.  Everytime Nick went to go hook for my Uncle Doug Bo would nearly start crying and want to chase after him because he was leaving for the time being.  But not too worry, Papa made everything better by giving him tootsie pops, hotdogs and Powerade.

I do have to mention that before the Pull started we were at my Uncle Dan's trailor and he always wears a cowboy hat and after Dan walked away Bo asked, "where is the cowboy going?"  Too funny.  The boy loves cowboys!

My Uncle Doug had a couple friends from Kansas that pulled as well and by the end of the night they had Bo saying "Go KU" and "Rock Chalk Jayhawk".  We immediately had to put that to a stop!:)  Vallery enjoyed being outside and also a little snack called a roast beef sundae, and I do have to say that mommy enjoyed it as well.  Let me tell you, these things are lethal.  Probably in my top 5 of the best foods I have ever eaten.  It consists of 2 scoops of mashed potatoes, roast beef, brown gravy on top, with another layer of melted cheese, and a cherry tomato to top it off...soooo good!

As always it was good seeing family.  And the kicker is both kids stayed up until 1030pm!  It took about 2 seconds for Vallery to fall asleep and Bo fought for about 10 minutes before he was out.  Can't wait for the State Fair!

Reliving old shenanigans

Last Friday, July 18th I had the pleasure of seeing my best friend, Jackie, for the first time in nearly 2 years!!  We went to see The Band Perry at Stircove in CB.  Her family graciously invited me to tag along.  The drive up and back was so fun reminiscing about our high school adventures and how ornery we were (which we didn't think we were too bad, but after remembering some of the things I really hope that my kids don't give me payback!).  Once again, it was like we never missed a beat.  We are like two peas in a pod. Her family is like my second family. I missed her oh so very much!  And luckily I get the chance to see her again this coming weekend...whoo hoo!

Each and every time we get to see eachother we create more and more memories.  We became friends on accident, but it was purposely planned by someone who had a greater plan in mind for the both of us.

V's 12 months! (1 year)

Tear :'(...  My baby is 1 year old.  I tried my hardest to cherish each moment because this could potentially be our last baby, but it doesn't matter how hard you try, time continues to fly by.  It seriously seemed like yesterday that I woke up and after a bit started having contractions following a whirlwind of quick labor before she was here.  And yes, I have totally forgotten about the all natural delivery and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Vallery is still blabbing up a storm.  She will try to repeat everything you say.  She says Mama, Dada, More, and Bo.  She has taken some steps everyday on her own, but is not quite fully walking.  She has been relatively healthy the past month, other than the occassional sniffly nose.  We had been giving her whole milk on occassion for the past 3 weeks or so and finally the Friday before she was one she ran out of formula, so we went straight to whole milk and no bottle.  She has adjusted very well.  I honestly don't even think she noticed.  She is still eating so much table food!  I seriously think she eats more than Bo on a consistant basis.  Which you can definitely tell she isn't skipping any meals from her stats from the Dr.  She also got 4 shots (ouch!).  After about 15 minutes she did great.

Height - 28 inches - 13%
Weight - 21 lbs 10 oz - 77%
Head - 18 inches - 72%

We currently have a short, chunky baby.  This is exactly how I was as a baby, however, I would like her to be taller than me and take more after her daddy!

She has been in the one year old room since was 10.5 months old, so she typically only takes one nap during the day from 1230-230.  She does take a cat nap sometimes on the drive home.  Her bedtime is around 730-8pm and she wakes up between 7-730 (sometimes later on the weekends).  At night I have been holding her and rocking her to sleep.  I love it.  Sometimes Josh will take her into our bed and let her roll around until she falls asleep and other nights she reaches for the crib because she is ready.  I can't remember the last time she woke up in the middle of the night.  She still sleeps with a binky and blanky.  And is almost always on her belly.

She is still a little more shy than Bo when it comes to who she will go to.  She is slowly turning into a Daddy's girl, but is a Mommy's girl for the most part.  She loves going to Gramma and will go to Papa more now.  Uncle Nick it is still a toss up sometimes:).

She is wearing size 4 diapers, size 3 shoes (only ones she keeps on is her moccs for now, I need to buy her some tennis shoes!), 12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. Still loves bath time and eating.  Loves playing peek a boo with daddy and clapping.

Vallery's 1st Birthday Party

Vallery's 1st Birthday Party was held on July 12th @ 3pm at our house.  I have been planning this day for so long!!  I typically do themes, but for Vallery I just did colors.  I decided on pink, mint, ivory and gold.  Doing these colors I was able to upcycle some of the fabric and things that I had used for her bedroom.  I knew that I was going to make as much as possible because it's easier on the pocket book and honestly I have gotten to where I really enjoy doing some crafting (I never thought I would ever say that).  I bought the paper straws, balloons and had the tissue garland from her bedroom decor.

I had gotten a couple ideas from some blogs and decided to make her onesie, tutu, cake bunting, cupcake toppers, banner, cake sign, and banner for her highchair.  I also did all the baking and food making (with a little help from my mama, of course).  I will say it is kind of difficult to find food to match with the colors:). We had cucumber sandwiches, italian roll ups, spinach dip, sausage & cheese, animal cookies and pink lemonade.  (along with a few adult beverages too).  I had originally intended on giving her the big cake to eat herself, but Josh though a cupcake was more fitting for her first time eating cake.  Thankfully I listened to him, because I think she was in a sugar coma after eating the WHOLE thing!  She did get one swipe of the frosting off the big cake after we sang happy birthday to her. Thanks so much to our friends and family for coming to celebrate Vallery.  We are very lucky to have each and every one of you in our lives.

can you tell they are related??
