Growing Girl

Our little girl has been such a pleasure already.  We were a little nervous because Bo was an easy baby we didn't think we would get so lucky to have 2!  But she has been wonderful from the start.  The first few days at home we kept Bo in his normal routine of going to School all day.  This made the adjustment a little easier on both mommy and daddy and Bo. 

The first Friday after Vallery was born was her first doctor appt. (6 days old).  It was definitely an exciting one!  On our first attempt to go there we broke down, but thankfully a friend came to the rescue and picked us up.  Luckily we were still able to make an appt for that same day. 

Her appt went awesome.  Vallery's birth weight was 7lbs 9oz and when we left the hospital she weighed 7lbs 1oz.  On Friday she was already back over her birth weight.  This usually takes a couple weeks because they will typically gain 1/2 to an ounce everyday and she was gaining 2 ounces everyday!  She weighed 7lbs 10oz, which made me extremely happy because this meant that I could let her sleep at night!  I had been getting up every 3 hours to feed her, but the doctor said we could let her go every 5 hours, whoohoo!

Well...not only does she go 5 hours, but she goes as long as 7 or 8 and I have to wake her up to feed her!  We have definitely been blessed in the sleep department.  I usually feed her around 8 or 9 pm and then don't feed her again until 3 or 4 am. And then again around 8am. 

Her 2nd appt went even better.  I was a little worried because I had been letting her go longer at night, but she is gaining weight like a champ!  She now weighs 8lbs 3oz and is gaining an ounce a day!  She is 19.75 inches and her head circumference is 14.5 inches.
