1st Father's Day

I can't even tell you how excited Josh was for his first Father's Day.  The word 'proud' is the best I can do to describe it.  He has exceeded my expectations of what I always pictured the father of my children to be. He is very hands on with Bo, not only do we take turns doing the day to day things with him (baths, feeding time, putting him down for nap time, reading before bed) but he thoroughly enjoys every second of it.  It is almost as if we "fight over" who is going to what with Bo for the day/evening.  I know that Father's Day has a brand new meaning to him now that he is a father.  It is a day that is beyond gifts and cards, but a day that he is thankful to Bo and all the joy that he has brought to his life.

We made a weekend out of Father's Day and spent the day as a family on Saturday afternoon.  Josh was dressed in a navy blue shirt with khaki shorts, so naturally I wanted to dress Bo just like his Daddy and I have to say that it was pretty darn cute!  We spent the evening at home as a family, which doesn't get any better than that!

how cute are they?
The actual day of we cooked Josh breakfast and let him sleep in a little.  After giving him his cards Josh mowed the lawn and also let Bo experience his first time on the mower.  I know he cannot wait until Bo can start doing 'chores' with him and fixing things around the house.  That afternoon my mom came up to spend some time with us and her dad as well.  We went over to my grandma's house for an early dinner and visited with family for a bit. We put Bo into a onsie that was fitting for the day that said "I love Dad".  That night Josh fed Bo and the three of us had some more family time.

so happy it's father's day!

Busy Mommy and Daddy

The month of June was a little crazy for our family of three...

The beginning of June started with Josh playing in an out of town golf tournament in Iowa City, so Bo and I had some time to ourselves.  We missed him like crazy, but we appreciated the time we were able to spend together.  My mom came up to visit while Josh was gone for a day, so we took Bo to do a little shopping and out for lunch.  He had a great time with Gma (as he always does).

I also went to my first Zoo Brew in Des Moines with a couple girls from work.  Zoo Brew is held at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, they have a band and drinks.  It is a pretty good time and different from what you would typically do for a weeknight out.

The middle of the month took me out of town for work.  We headed back to Boulder, CO for our annual Summit.  We left on a Sunday and didn't get back until late on Wednesday night.  That was the longest I had gone without my little guy and it was so difficult to be gone that long.  I know that Josh really enjoyed his time with Bo, so he was in very good hands:).

I think every Friday in June Josh played in a golf tournament, which I am so glad he makes time to do the things that he really enjoys.  It also gives him a chance to hang out with friends that may not see as often as he would like and a do a little catching up as well. I also went to the Big Country Bash this year, which is a day long country concert that takes place at an outside venue in Des Moines.  Josh scored some free tickets from a golf tournament two days prior and offered to watch Bo while a friend and I went to the concert.  What a good husband!!  And I guess I benefited a bit from his tournaments too! It was scorcher that day and I definitely got a little bit too much sun!

Changes, changes

It amazes me each day, week, month that we spend with Bo how much he changes.  It seems as though the past couple of weeks he has become this whole new baby!  Bottle feedings are now a full contact sport, he eats so well with a spoon, he can sit up and "dance" on his own like he has been doing it forever, he grabs everything in site, and when he learns something new it 'sticks' with him!   He has also learned to shake his head which is quite comical!  I know it may seem ridiculous, but he doesn't seem like my little baby anymore!  I feel like he is no longer a guessing game and we can communicate in our own way.

It is so funny to watch him before he eats.  He gets super excited and pounds his hands on the tray.  You can see his eyes light up and his mouth opens even before you get a chance to sit down:).  He now eats proteins (Chicken and Turkey), loves almost every fruit (except bananas when they are by themselves), and still loves his veggies!  He is a good little eater.  He is eating 'solids' twice a day still, a fruit with 4 tbsp of cereal in late morning (1130is) followed by a bottle (eats 3-6 oz) and a veggie or protein at night with 4tbsp of cereal followed by a bottle (4-8 oz).  He is getting so good with the spoon too, he is starting to grab it every time you use it:).  Of course I have a video to show you of him eating...

He is a growing boy and I love watching his personality develop!

Our little fishy!

We had a very busy Memorial Day weekend!  While Josh went golfing Bo and I went to Jaxon's bam bam ball game and then followed up by going to the swimming pool for the first time with Jenna and Jax!  Bo loves bath time so I was very excited to take him to the pool.  I was a little worried about him not liking the temperature of the water, but it was very mild and he loved every second of it!  I think he is going to love the water like his mommy and daddy!  Looks like another boat will be in our future!

Bo made a friend!

future heart breakers!

the humidity might've taken a toll on his hair:)
The next day (Sunday) we decided to take Bo to the Des Moines Zoo.  Neither Josh or I had gone before so we thought we would check it out.  We both grew up going to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, so we didn't know what to expect for this one.  I can say that we are definitely spoiled with the Omaha Zoo!!  The Des Moines Zoo is good for about an hour of entertainment, whereas the Omaha Zoo you can maybe get through everything in a day!!  But needless to say, we had fun as a family (other than it being pretty hot that morning) and Bo enjoyed looking at the monkeys, his favorite!

The following weekend Josh went to Riverside for a golf tourney so my mom came up on Saturday and we did some shopping for the house and then on Sunday we went to the police pool so Josh and my mom could see our little fishy in action! Bo, once again, loved the water!  We got him a little floaty that he could sit in since the water is a little deeper at this pool.  I know Josh really enjoyed playing with him in the water.  I enjoyed watching them:).
