Bo's Pow Wow

My first baby turned 2 on November 21st, but we had his birthday celebration on Sunday, November 17th.  It was a great party with lots of family and a few friends.  It was a Indian/Pow Wow themed party.  (Go figure, last year it was Cowboy).  Bo's birthday present was a real life teepee made out of canvas for the house.  I absolutely love it!  Bo likes it too:).  He likes to run and hide in there.

But for decorations I made a lot of them myself.  The party favors consisted of: arrowhead rock, twig colored pencil, wooden top, and indian headband.  For food we did just appetizers: "tribal" mix, "indian" corn dip, "buffalo" chicken dip, and "pow wow" cheese and crackers.  I made the cupcakes and decorated them myself, soo much cheaper to do it that way.  We had so much fun planning the party.  I cannot wait to host more parties at our new house!!  It is one of my favorite things to do:).

Thanks to all of our friends and family that were able to make it!  We are lucky to have each and every one of you in our lives.  Bo is one happy 2 year old.

I'm 29....

So I turned 29 this year and I although it my last year in my twenties it has already been the best year.  Josh and I have two beautiful, healthy children, a wonderful family and we made one of our dreams come true.

I probably got the best present hands down that I could've ever gotten as a gift.  For years now Josh and I have been on the hunt for a perfect spot in the country to raise our children and be closer to our families.  Well, after many ups and downs we finally closed on 30 acres in Madison County.  Our kids will be in the Winterset School Disctrict about 15 miles from the Metro.  It is mostly pasture with some timber and a pond.  We are so anxious to get started with this next chapter.  My hope is to start building sooner than later.  I am already picturing Josh and I waking up and going out to the deck over looking our pond drinking coffee waiting for the kiddos to get up and go fishing.  It is an absolute dream of ours and I can't believe it is finally happening.  Bring on the horses, cows and chickens!!

As a celebration Josh and I went out to dinner at Splash.  They have the best seafood in town and I also received a beautiful ring that I have had my eye on from Josh and kids.  My parents got me some more minnetonkas. (You can never have enough moccasins right??).

Beautiful evening with my husband and so much to celebrate and be thankful for.  Love my family.

Weekends Out

The month of November also brought a couple of nights out for this mama.  More nights out this month than I have had in about a year...holy moly I can't do it like I used to!  The first night was with a group of girls, we had dinner and went downtown to Beer Can Alley and danced to some country music.  I had soo much fun!!

Love her!

Much needed night out with my BFF

The next night out was a pre celebration for my birthday.  I had a holiday party for work and then I met my brother and Lyndsi downtown (once again Beer Can Alley), but we tried out a new bar called Urban Cowboy and that was a definite fail.

V's 4 months!

This post is way over due.  But due to a busy month I am behind on lots of posts!  But Vallery's 4 month appointment went fabulous.  She is still growing like a weed.  The doctor said that she is a very strong girl with great head control and strong little legs!

4 month stats

Weight: 15.9 lbs - 69%
Height: 25 inches - 60%
Head: 16.5 inches - 77%

She loves grabbing her hands and all objects.  She has a very strong little grip!  Vallery still sucks on her hands (and yours when she can get her little fingers on them:)).  She is talking more and more each day.  She has become quite the mommy's girl.  She is still eating 4 times a day approx 6-8 oz at a time.  She usually takes a morning and afternoon nap.  She even tries to get a little cat nap in night.  Her bedtime is around 8 - 830 and sleeps until 645-730.  Sleeping like a champ!  There is usually no interruptions.

This month was the first time our little girl had gotten sick.  She had a fever for about 4 days and during that time she didn't eat as much and slept quite a bit.  That was the only time that sleep was interrupted, because she would wake up with a fever.  The Dr. said it was something viral so the only cure was TLC and tylenol.

She is still the happiest girl and laughs so much with Daddy.  She loves her big brother and he can do no wrong in her eyes.  Bo will lay on her and she will just laugh and laugh.  Bo has also started to pay her a lot more attention.  She also loves sitting up and sitting in the bumbo.   I'll be updating with her 5 month soon.:)

Halloween 2013

Our little minions.  I was so excited to get to dress two kiddos up this year for Halloween and even better with coordinating costumes.  I will admit, I have never been one that has been into Halloween, that is usually Josh's department.  But after this year I have determined that I am loving homemade costumes over store bought ones.  I am already thinking about next years!

So...Bo has been obsessed with the movie Despicable Me, or "Yellow Guys" as he calls it, so I thought he would love the idea of becoming a "yellow guy".  Their outfits were pretty simple.  Bo already had a yellow sweatshirt and some overalls and I got Vallery a yellow onesie with some overalls.  I ordered them knitted yellow guy hats from etsy and they turned out great!

When the hats arrived I showed Bo and he grabbed the hat from me and instantly threw it on the ground.  Oh boy...he hates it!  From that point on Josh would wear the hat or I would put it on trying to get him to at least like the hat a little bit.  Typically Bo does well with hats, but not this one.  After a couple weeks I had come to conclusion that we would put the hat on and hopefully get one picture and call it day.  Well, Bo did great for Trick or Treat.  He kept the hat on all night (I think it helped that it was a little chilly so it kept his head and ears warm).

One of my friends, Michelle, had a Trick or Treat party for the kids.  She had a spooky dinner and a fun game for the kids before heading out to trick or treat in the their neighborhood.  It was so fun seeing all the kiddos dressed up.  Josh took Bo up to each house, while Vallery hung out with me in the baby bjorn.  She was such a good baby the whole time.  She didn't sleep at all and was very content the whole time.
